Thank you for your interest in the 2017 Harvest Days Karaoke Competition!
The competition will be held on
Saturday, September 16, 2017, starting at 1:00 pm on the main stage,
which will be located on the corner of E. Main Street and Franklin Street.
Qualifications to Participate
This year, the competition will be broken into two age brackets. We anticipate the lower age bracket consisting
of grades 1-8 and the upper age bracket consisting of grades 9-12, but the cut-off age may be adjusted after
sign-up to equalize the size of the groups.
Only contestants in grades 1-12 in the 2017/2018 school year may compete.
Each age bracket will have 3 prizes available. First place will win a gold medal and $200 cash. Second place
will win a silver medal and $100 cash. Third place will win a bronze medal and $50 cash.
Your song should be no longer than 6 minutes (preferably under 5). Be sure that you know the proper title of
your song and the artist who performed the version you want to sing when signing up. If you like, you may find
a karaoke version of the song that you like on Youtube and submit a link to John, who will download the file for
your use. You may also submit to John an .mp4 video file or an audio file if you don’t need the words.
Otherwise, John will locate a copy of your song and will send it to you so that you can practice with it. You may
use a recording that includes appropriate background singers, but you may not use a recording that includes
singers singing the main part / melody.
You may sign up in person at The Paper’s office, located at 204 E. Chippewa St. in Dwight between Tuesday,
August 15 and Thursday, August 31. The office is open between 8:30 and 5:30 Monday through Friday. If
you are unable to visit The Paper during those hours, please e-mail John at firstname.lastname@example.org with the
• Contestant name and grade level in 2017/2018
• Parent or guardian name (required for grades 1-5)
• Contestant or contact e-mail address and phone number
• Song title and artist
Sign-up deadline: Thursday, August 31
An optional (but recommended) rehearsal will be run the week of Harvest Days. Contestants will be able to
draw their order number and practice performing their song with a microphone at that time. John will send
more details about the rehearsal by e-mail after the sign-up deadline.
